JULY MEETING
BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD
The July 20th, 2010 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by Pres. Angela McCorkle. There were 25 members and 3 guests present. LaTrelle Locks moved and Bethany Bletsch seconded that minutes from the May meeting be approved as corrected. The following corrections were made to the minutes:
Sherri Marshall is chairman of the Magazines Publicity Committee for the Quilt Show and Sherri Marshall is Chairman of Entries not Admissions.
Lynn Patrick moved and Pat Murph seconded that the treasurer’s report be approved as posted.
Sherry Benbow, Sunshine Chairman reported that cards were sent to members Norma Bessent and Barbara Spinks.
Angela presented discussion concerning vendor food at the Quilt Show and suggested that we “take orders” for Subway Sandwiches or something comparable for each vendor. There was also discussion concerning vendor booth fees. Tricia Emery moved that we increase the vendor booth fee to $100. LaTrelle Locks seconded and motion carried. Mildred Turner and Judy Tiedemann will co-chair the guild stash booth. There was also discussion concerning the goodie basket that we raffle at the Quilt Show. Bethany Bletsch moved that guild members donate a “quilty” item for the goodie basket and LaTrelle Locks seconded. Motion carried.
Mildred Turner volunteered to chair the Raffle Quilt 2012 committee. Angela has a potential quilt kit if the guild is interested.
Fran Snay is available for the workshop for the Quilt Show. Her fee is approximately $1000. She will conduct the workshop, “String Quilts”, present a lecture and trunk show on Saturday afternoon and judge the quilts that are entered for judging. All quilts will need to be entered on Thursday instead of Friday so that judging may occur on Friday. Tricia Emery moved we secure Fran Snay. LaTrelle seconded the motion and motion carried.
A discussion was held concerning husbands admission to the Quilt show and it was the consensus that husbands continue to get in free. It was suggested the we secure a male announcer for the Quilt Show. Possible announcers are Jerry DeHay and Chuck Patrick. DVD’s will be available again this year.

Sherri Marshall – Oh My Stars BOM quilt
Angela McCorkle – New BOM Houses quilt and Hand Applique by Machine sample
Door Prizes were won by Marilyn DeHay and Doris Rice. Meeting was adjourned to pot luck meal.
