APRIL 2012 MEETING
BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD

The April 17, 2012 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by President Angela McCorkle.  There were 24 members and 1 guest present.

The minutes of the March meeting were read.  There were the following corrections.  Nancy Tubb did not report on CPS bags, Joy Ivy reported for her.  Mildred and Benita are not in charge of the stash booth.  Mildred and Judy are in charge of the stash booth.  Benita will assist them in the accounting.  Gretchen Alkston did not provide the program.  Gretchen Abston provided the program.  Bethany moved the minutes be accepted as corrected.  Judy Tiedemann  seconded and motion carried.  The Treasurer’s Report was given.  Ruby Goodwin moved they be accepted as presented.  LaTrelle Locks seconded the motion; motion carried.

Sunshine report was given.  Peggy Gamlin is at home but has had a very sick year.  Nancy Tubb reported CPS bags are needed.  Joy Ivy reported more WeeCare quilts are needed.  Both WeeCare and CPS bags will be held until after the quilt show so that they can be displayed in the Guild booth at the quilt show.

Angela McCorkle reported on the Quilt Show progress.  Everything is in order for the show.  Bethany reported that $252 of donation tickets for the quilt were sold at the Gun Show.  The Feathered Star in Clyde is displaying the quilt and selling tickets for us.  The Feathered Star in Clyde and the Honey Bee Quilt Shop in Austin have donated $25 gift certificates for best of show.  Angela passed around the “Tea in Texas” magazine.  Our ad for the quilt show is in it.  Ribbons for the winners were shown.  Sherri Marshall will contact the Mayors for selection on their quilt. Angela would like for the greeters to keep a tally of actual paid attendees for the quilt show rather than relying on the door prize registration slips.  Bed Turning times will be 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.  If you are providing a quilt for the bed turning, please get the history to Marcella as soon as possible and bring the quilt on Thursday during quilt check-in.

Secret Sisters were drawn and Bethany will compose the list and give to the new secretary.

Coffee social hostess for May is Robin Moody.  Nancy Tubb presented the block for May.  It is a block from the book “The Underground Railroad” by Eleanor Burns.  Joy Ivy won the fat quarter drawing.  Jeanne Ortegon won the drawing for the May blocks.  Door prizes were won by LaTrelle Locks and Joyce Kelley.

Show and tell items were presented and photos can be seen on the guild website.  Meeting was adjourned.
