The July 17, 2012 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by President, Nancy Tubb.

Visitors were Sharron Staires from Ballinger, Vanessa Emmons from San Angelo and Jerri Jones from Brownwood.  Sharron and Vanessa are opening a new store in Ballinger called “Sew Affordable Fabrics” based on recycling quality quilting fabrics.  They will be purchasing fabric by the pound to use in making up kits and packages.  If interested, you can call them at 325-365-9999.

The minutes of the June meeting were read by Secretary, Benita Pipes. There were no corrections.  Doniene Fallagar made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Marilyn DeHay seconded, and the motion carried.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented.  The balance as of June 19 was $6,020.41.  A motion to accept the report was made by Ruby Goodwin and seconded by Marilyn DeHay.  The motion carried.

Old Business
The coffee social was discussed and the general consensus was to continue with the social time from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. but discontinue the coffee and food.

The Block of the Month program will start again in August with directions for the blocks to be returned in September.  Volunteers are responsible for furnishing instructions to members.  Also, a short demo about the block should be presented.

New Business

Robin Moody has volunteered to be the CPS representative.

Marcella League talked about the programs for the upcoming year.  A list will be prepared and furnished with the yearbook as well as posted on the website.

There was discussion on the use of the charity change collection as there is sufficient money in the benevolent fund to cover unforeseen needs for the 2012-13 fiscal year.  This decision was tabled for discussion when Norma Bessent presents her report on deserving charities in September.  Anyone with ideas on charities should contact Norma.
