AUGUST 2012 MEETING
BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD
The August 21, 2012 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called
to order by President, Nancy Tubb.
Twenty six members were present.
There were no visitors.
The minutes of the July meeting were read by Secretary, Benita Pipes. There
were no corrections. LaTrelle made a
motion to accept the minutes as read, Doris Rice seconded, and the motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented.
The balance as of August 21, 2012 was $6,853.37. A motion to accept the report was made by Doniene
Fullagar and seconded by Ruby Goodwin.
The motion carried.
Old Business
Norma Bessent will present a report on local charities at the September
meeting.
New Business
The program for September will be “Dress to the Nines” presented by
Marcella League. It is a program on nine
patch blocks. After the business meeting
in September, there will be a Wee Care sew-in.
Members were asked to bring sewing machines and Wee Care projects. Quilt kits and batting will be available to
be used if you don’t have a current project.
Pizza and salad will be provided.
Guild yearbooks were e-mailed to all members and hardcopies were
available for those who requested and paid the additional $1.00.
CPS – Nancy Tubb showed bags made by Cindy Hadley received after last
month’s meeting and also some bags that were anonymously donated from Abilene.
Quilt Show - Angela McCorkle announced that vendor letters would be
going out soon. One of the favorite
vendors, Pieces Keepers, has requested a booth.
There was discussion on purchasing aprons instead of T-shirts for
members to wear at the show. Angela will
have job descriptions for sub-committee chairs in September.
Monthly Drawings
Block of the Month – Doris Rice demonstrated the “Gay Two-Patch Quilt”
block to be returned in September. The
block should be made in fall colors and should measure 10 ½” unfinished.
The fat quarter drawing was won by Marcella League. The color for September is “Fall Harvest.”
Door prizes were won by Carol Casserilla and Nancy Tubb.

The meeting was adjourned for the program, “Keep it in one Place,”
presented by Sherri Marshall. There was
a demonstration and a “make and take” workshop for a mesh project bag.
