November 13, 2012 Meeting



NOVEMBER 2012 MEETING

BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD


The November 13, 2012 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by President, Nancy Tubb.

There were 26 members present. There were no visitors.

General Announcements

Nancy Tubb reminded members of the change in time for the next meeting, December 11 at 10:30 a.m.

The minutes of the October meeting were read by Secretary, Benita Pipes. There were no corrections. Doniene Fullagar made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Joy Early seconded, and the motion carried.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented. The balance as of November 13, 2012 was $6,397.53. A motion to accept the report was made by Angela McCorkle and seconded Joy Ivy. The motion carried.

Old Business

Norma Bessent has agreed to replace Marilyn DeHay as a judge for the "Christmas Under the Stars" festival on December 7.

Marcella League announced the theme of the Christmas Party will be "Christmas in a Jar." There will be a covered dish luncheon with the Guild furnishing the meat. Each member should bring a $5 gift in a jar.

Angela McCorkle reported the donation quilt "Stars Across the States" is almost completed. Robin Moody volunteered to finish the binding.

New Business

There will not be a block of the month for December. Angela McCorkle will present the block of the block of the month instructions for January.

Committee Reports

WEE Care – Joy Ivy reported twelve quilts were delivered to the hospital.

Sunshine – Sherry Benbow reported a sympathy card was sent to Robin Moody.

Quilt Show – Angela McCorkle reported that the posters for the quilt show are almost ready. There are still some committee opportunities. Angela will have a list of vacancies at the December meeting. Angela has the sign-up sheet for aprons and will be placing an order after the next meeting.

Monthly Drawings

The October Block of the Month drawing was won by Benita Pipes.

The Fat Quarter drawing was won by LaTrelle Locks. There is no Fat Quarter drawing in December.

The Door Prize drawing was won by Jeanie Ortegon.

The meeting was adjourned for a crock-pot luncheon and purse workshop presented by Angela McCorkle.
