DECEMBER 2012 MEETING
BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD

The December 11, 2012 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by President, Nancy Tubb.

There were 17 members present.  There were no visitors.

General Announcements

The minutes of the November meeting were read by Secretary, Benita Pipes. There were no corrections.  LaTrelle Locks made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Doniene Fullagar seconded, and the motion carried.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented.  The balance as of December 11, 2012 was $6,034.78.  A motion to accept the report was made by Norma Bessent and seconded by Sherri Marshall.  The motion carried.

Old Business

Marcella League announced the January program will be Angela McCorkle’s market update and trunk show.

Angela McCorkle presented the donation quilt “Stars Across the States.” Robin Moody volunteered to finish the binding.  A volunteer is needed to coordinate taking the quilt to various locations for ticket sales.

New Business

Angela McCorkle presented the block of the month for January.

The fat quarter theme for January is “something that makes you think of the beach.”

Judy Laquidara is responsible for the February block of the month.

Committee Reports

WEE Care – Joy Ivy presented seventeen quilts donated by the Pompey Mountain Quilters.  Also, she mentioned Judy Tiedemann’s idea of sending quilts to the Hurricane Sandy relief.  After discussion, no action was taken, but the consensus was not to make this a formal guild project.  Members are always encouraged to participate in various charity projects and contact information can be shared with Guild members.  Marcella League shared that she is making “monster” dolls for Hurricane Sandy victims.

Sunshine – Sherry Benbow was out sick so there was no formal Sunshine report, but it was noted that Teri Reed is in the hospital after breaking her hip.

Monthly Drawings

Block of the Month and Fat Quarter drawings were not held in December.

The meeting was adjourned for the Christmas party and luncheon.  The theme of the party was “Christmas in a jar” and included many “snowmen in a jar” table decorations given as door prizes.
