APRIL 2013 MEETING
BROWNWOOD QUILTERS GUILD
The April 16, 2013 meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by President, Nancy Tubb.
There was one visitor, LaRaye Kelley from Goldthwaite, who expressed an
interest to join the group.
The minutes of the March meeting were read by Secretary, Benita Pipes. There were no corrections. Judy Tiedemann made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Ruby Goodwin seconded, and the motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented.
The balance as of April 16, 2013 was $6,014.09. A motion to accept the report was made by Debra
Revay and seconded by Joy Ivy. The
motion carried.
President, Nancy Tubb, reminded everyone that the success of the quilt
show depends on the participation of the members.
LaTrelle Locks and Jeanie Ortegon were appointed to select the Guild
Quilt to be given away at the June meeting.
The program for the May meeting will be “On the Borders” presented by
Doris Rice
Old Business
Aprons are still available for purchase at $6.50 each.
New Business
Marcella League made a motion, seconded by LaTrelle Locks, to use the unused
portion of the 2012-13 program budget towards a speaker or program for the 2014
quilt show’s tenth anniversary. The motion
carried.Cindy Hadley questioned if the Secretary/Treasurer position could be split. After some discussion, the decision was made to vote on a bylaw change at the next meeting to separate the two positions.
LaTrelle Locks presented a paper-pieced block for the May Block of the Month.
The fat quarter theme for May is “1930s.”
Committee Reports
WEE Care – Joy Ivy reported that kits are ready for the workshop.
CPS – Robin Moody read a thank you note from the Rainbow Room. Four new bags were received.
Sunshine –A get well card was sent to Stella Burns.
Quilt Show – Angela McCorkle reported that the coliseum would not be
open until 10:00 a.m. for set up due to the Health Fair. Radio spots have been set up. Signup sheets for workers and vendor food are
available.
Monthly Drawings
The Block of the Month drawing was won by Cindy Hadley. The Fat Quarter drawing was won by Vickie
Mazurek. The door prize was won by
Jeanie Ortegon.
The meeting was adjourned for the Wee Care workshop and pizza luncheon.
