July 2013 Meeting
Brownwood Quilters
Guild
The July meeting of the Brownwood Quilters Guild was called to order by interim President, Angela McCorkle ( in the absence of Joy Ivy & Doris Rice).
Marcella League made a motion to accept June minutes; Lynn Patrick 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
No roll call was given due to the fact that secretary,
LaTrelle Locks, failed to have list with her.
A sign up sheet was placed at front door. There were 15 members present & we had 2
visitors; Connie Hart and Camryn Bills.
Doniene Fullagar made a motion to accept treasurer’s
report. Vickie Mazurek 2nd it
& motion carried.
It was announced that there will be a discussion next month
concerning the stash booth at the quilt show.
Angela announced that one of our long time vendors had
passed away. John of Barb’s Quilt Nook
died of a massive heart attack. A
sympathy card was passed around for everyone to sign. Angela will send it to his wife, Barb.
Angela asked that the Quilt Show Committee meet every
quarter. She also confirmed that Sue
Garman will be our speaker on Friday & Debbie Maddy for Saturday of the
quilt show next year.
A suggestion was made to have a “2 day pass” for the quilt
show. It was suggested that we charge
$10 for 2 days as well as give a $2 discount for Senior Citizens. More discussion on this topic next month.
There weren’t any new Wee Care quilts or CPS bags. It was stated that Robin Moody has had a
migrane.
A Get Well card was sent to Wanda Jackson.Vickie Mazurek won this months strip exchange.
Show & Tell:
Becky Martin- Group quilt made from blocks won by Alice
Young last year. They were pieced
together by Doniene Fullagar & hand quilted by the quilting group from
Brady First Baptist Church. The quilt
will be sent to a couple that lost their home in the West, Tx. explosion in
April.
Vickie Mazurek- Comanche Stamp, Comanche Stars & Rooster
Stamp.
Doniene Fullagar- Wee Care quilt.
Angela McCorkle- Double Pinwheel.
Cindy Hadley- Hankerchief quilt & puffy quilt.
The meeting was adjourned for the fashion show &
luncheon.
