March 2015 Show & Tell

The Brownwood Quilt Guild will not have the annual quilt show this year, so the 2014-2015 raffle quilt drawing will take place during the monthly meeting on April 21,2015.
A portion of the proceeds will be given to help support the Ark Domestic Violence Shelter in Brownwood, Texas.

Enjoy the pictures of the projects made by members this month.
Lana Webb made these two baby quilts for the  Wee Care program
from fabric donated to the guild.
Becky Martin showed the "Pink Hope Quilt" made from string blocks the guild presented to her last November.
Jonna Burkes showed her beautifully embroidered "A to Z Snowmen" BOM quilt.

Millie Schwab showed a pillow case and a chevron quilt she made for her grandson Justin.
She calls it “Grey Matters”.

Eight 1/8th’s Challenge

Last month the guild members were presented an unusual challenge.
Eight fat eighth bundles were made from 8, one yard cuts of fabric donated by
Debby Kratovil . Anyone who wished to participate in this challenge could put their name in the “HAT” for a chance to win prize packages valued over $200.00.The Wild West Saloon fabric they would be using for the challenge was not revealed until after all the names were drawn. They could make anything of their choosing, but some or all of the 8 different fabrics had to be used, and they could add more fabric if they wanted to.

Below, are the EIGHT very creative ladies who's names were drawn.

Jeanie Ortegon- 4 zipper bags, tissue holder, coasters and a hot pad.
Wanda Jackson- Jesters bags filled with candy, cards and other goodies.
Connie Hansen- Kenny Rogers, Gambler meets Guns and Roses quilt.
Donna Swanger- Dead Man’s Hand market bag made for her Dad.
 Mildred Turner- Embroidered Cowboy quilt.
Shelia Smith- Cowboy quilt game board.
Connie Hart- Little Cowboy and Horseshoes wall-hanging.
Joy Ivy- Quilt Across Texas quilt.
Debby Kratovil will judge the entries and the winners will be announced at the May meeting.
