Brownwood Quilter's Guild Minutes ~ Tuesday 19 January 2016
Guild President Lana Webb called the meeting to order with nineteen members and guest Nita Franklin of Brownwood in attendance.
Connie Hart and Biolanda Villalpando were recognized for their January birthdays.
Lana read treasurer Connie Hansen's financial report.
Lana announced that Mildred Turner has taken husband Hilton To Arlington, Texas, for further medical treatment.
Judy Tiedemann asked that everyone keep Stella Burns and Elaine Anderson in their prayers.
Millie Schwab reported Robin Moody is undergoing radiation treatments and got a good report from her doctor.
Connie Hart reported she recently met with Sunni Modawell of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce regarding the Guild's holding a quilt display in conjunction with the Chamber's upcoming Corks and Caps. This would promote the Guild with greater, more diverse recognition. Lana will attend the next Chamber meeting to learn more details regarding Corks and Caps and will report back to us at our next meeting.
On 30 January 2016, Lana will be taking our Donation Quilt to the Waco, Texas, Shop Hop. 75% of all the proceeds from this quilt will go to the Guild's 2016 charity of choice, Toys For Kids. If there are any volunteers who would go and help with the quilt, please contact Lana.
It has been decided that BQG will not be sponsoring a proposed Jenny Doan program due to the expense involved. However, Ms. Doan is scheduled to be in Clyde, Texas, for a trunk show on 22 February, 2016. The admission fee at the door will be $5.00 per person.
In lieu of our regularly scheduled monthly Guild meeting, interested Guild members can meet at the church parking lot to caravan to Bee's Quilt Shop in Winters, Texas , leaving Brownwood at 10:00 am that morning.
San Saba, Texas, will host a traveling quilt show April 1 and 2, 2016.
Brownwood Quilt Guild thanks Vida Weehunt for displaying our Charity Donation Quilt in her shop in Early, Texas.
Lana Webb is going to purchase two dies for the Guild's AccuCutter.
Vickie Mazurek is going to do pillowcases for the Children's Hospital in lieu of the traditional BOM in April. She is asking that Guild members join her in participating in the Million Pillowcase Challenge.
