December 2016 BOM

Millie Schwab presented the December block of the month .
If you have a December 2016 American Patchwork and Quilting magazine the quilt and directions are featured in it.

Materials
One 10 1/2" x 12" black and white square for background
One 2 1/2" x 12" strip bright
One 1 1/2" x 12" strip bright
Two 1 1/2" x 13" strips bright

Begin by placing background fabric on cutting board and make two cuts at a slight angle along 12" length. Separate the three strips you just cut and sew the two 12" strips of bright fabric in the cut areas. Press seams to bright fabrics.
Place the pressed block on cutting board and make two cuts perpendicular to the first cuts. Sew the two 13" strips in the cut areas. Press seams to bright fabric.
Using 9 1/2" or larger square-up ruler, trim the block to best effect.
