March 2018 Monthly Meeting

Show and Tell
Millie Schwab made this quilt for her 7 year old great nephew in honor of her late sister.
Visitor Barbara Leesman of Blunt, South Dakota (Vickie Mazurek's sister) showed her very first quilt, made for her first great-grandchild.
Connie Hart shows a quilt she made for her great nephew. Connie embroidered family names as a "family tree" type quilt.
Dianna Mayfield shows a vintage "Grandma's flower Garden",
 obtained from her father-in-law.
Diana was the winner of this month's layer cake drawing.
Winners of this month's program prize auction were Biolanda, Deborah, Wanda, Connie, and Lanna.

Block of the Month
Jan Cates presented the March BOM

The ladies who participated in the February block of the month.

 Program
The March program was presented by button expert, Marilyn DeHay.
Marilyn talked about button and feed sack collecting. She shared her knowledge of types of buttons, (china, glass, pearl, silver, etc.) and showed several trays of specialty buttons arranged for competitive shows.
Marilyn talked about 2 quilts that belonged to her mother, hand made from feed sacks and the history of bags that were used for sugar, flour, chicken feed, etc.

Patsy Oehrlein and Donna Swanger each won a jar of buttons Marilyn brought, by guessing how many were in it. Both guessed the correct number.....400.
