Sewing Kit Workshop after March 20 business meeting
On March 20th, after a short meeting and a trunk show, Gretchen Abston
will conduct a workshop on a wool sewing kit. The wool for the kit will be furnished by the guild. A fee of $3.00 is necessary for the extras that we will use in the workshop.

The deadline to sign up for the workshop is March 1st. A supply list
will be posted on March 3rd.

Desert Star Table Runner Workshop on Wednesday, March 21
On March 20th, after the sewing kit workshop, we will cut our fabric for the Desert Star workshop. The workshop for the Desert Star will be held on March 21st at 9:30.

The fee for the workshop is $42.00. Yes, that is right! Because we had so many sign up we got a discount. If you do not show up, you still have to pay for $12 for the complete quilt pattern.

The patterns have been special ordered for you.

On each workshop day bring a sack lunch and drink.

SUPPLY LISTS

Wool Sewing Kit (for immediately after March 20 Business Meeting)

1. Hand embroidery needles that will hold 3 strands of floss
2. Small scissors for snipping threads
3. Pins
4. Small bit of stuffing for pin cushion
5. Various colors of embroidery floss
6. Your lunch and a drink

Items that will be provided

1. Purple, dark and light pink, several shades of green embroidery floss
2. Wool and small buttons (note you may bring a medium or large favorite button)

Desert Star Table Runner  (for Wednesday, March 21 - 9:30 - First Christian Church)

1. Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
2. Iron
3. Ironing and cutting mat
4. Extension cord
5. Your lunch and a drink

NOTE:  Kits and basic instructions will be given after the Tuesday guild meeting.  Cutting will also be done.

Programs 2011-2012

BROWNWOOD QUILTERS' GUILD Programs for June 2011 - June 2012

All meetings will begin at 9:30 AM unless otherwise stated. A coffee social hosted by members will begin at 9:00 AM before each meeting.  For questions about a program or to register for a workshop, email Marcella at  marcellacrabb@gmail.com.

June 21, 2011
The program will be Quilting with Decorative Stitches and Embroidery. Sonja Bannister from Dublin will be the presenter.

July 19, 2011
Meeting will start at 10:30 am. Because of the covered dish luncheon, there will be no social prior to the meeting. Each member is to bring a covered dish of her choice. Meat will be provided by the Guild.

At this meeting, members will sign up for a workshop on making pillowcases. This workshop will be held immediately following the August meeting. A kit will be provided for all who sign up, but members must attend the workshop in order to receive the kit.

August 16, 2011
Following the business meeting, there will be a workshop, taught by Nancy Tubb,  on making pillowcases. Be sure to bring sewing machines and basic supplies needed to make this project. Pizza and salad will be provided for lunch. Each member is to bring her own drink.

September 20, 2011
Jonna Burkes will present the program on the Flannel Pinwheel Posy Quilt. Members can register from now until September 8th. The Guild will furnish a generous amount of flannel for participants to get started on their scrappy quilt. Registered members must bring their machine, sewing supplies and beverage. Lunch will be provided by the guild. (Ham sandwiches, chips and dessert.)

October 18, 2011
Benita Pipes will present the program "Irons of the Past and Irons of the Future". Members present will be eligible to win a $200 dollar spectacular IRON.

Everyone is to wear "crazy socks".  A prize will be given for the most unusual.

November 15, 2011
Janie Alanzo from Austin will present the program " X Blocks.

December 13, 2011
Christmas Party at 10:30 Celebrating the CHRISTMAS TREE . (The green tree represents the life and hope in the winter.)  Bring a favorite Christmas quilt to share with the other members.

Members will bring a covered dish for the luncheon.


January 17, 2012
Angela McCorkle will give the program  She will be doing a Trunk Show with highlights from the annual Quilt Market in Houston.  Angela will also be giving a workshop on making a star string quilt after the meeting.  Members are to bring a soup or chili to share for lunch.
